Please Pray

I am asking for prayer for the woman who assisted me in the birth of our daughter Alyssa. Some of you know that she was taken to court because she attends home births without being a licensed nurse. She is licensed in midwifery and has attended over 5000 births in the 25 years that she has practiced.
A few days ago, she was ordered to cease and desist all practice and was fined $11,000.00. Her lawyer has appealed the decision, but until further notice she can no longer practice.
Diane is a wonderful godly woman whom God has blessed with a special gift. She has quite a ministry to those whom she serves and I believe that she should be allowed to continue her practice.
You can check out more info on Diane at this sight:

Thanks for praying with me!

Hi Bev! Do you have any updates on this situation? I've been praying.

Maybe if she would've followed the law in the state of MD, this wouldn't have happened. How would the Lord feel about that.

Anonymous,

Actually, she HAS followed the law in the state of Maryland, and I am aware of no instance where she has not. She practices in PA, and that is where she assisted us. She has an incredible ministry to the Amish and Plain people of PA, and it truly is a shame that misguided bureaucrats have chosen this course of action against her. These people are not going to start going to hospitals, they are just going to be without any help at all.
For me, this is an issue of freedom, and perhaps you should value yours a tad more. Having babies is a natural event, people have been doing it for thousands of years without the help of politicians, bureacrats, and yes- even hospitals. People should be able to have their babies in the comfort and privacy of their own home if they so choose without the interference of overzealous government agencies.
The hypocrisy is that many of these people would fight tooth and nail for the "choice" to kill their unborn child, but think that someone helping others give birth in a peaceful environment is a big problem that needs to be corrected.

jjyixWow, great comments on your behalf, I will tackle them in the morning, but for now, read the PA law on midwives, and the court documents filed...all are readily available at the courthouse. This is not a witch hunt, and your belief's are a joke, wait until one of your children die at the hands of these monster "midwives." I have experienced that...and had I been in a hospital with trained medical professionals and medical equipment...it wouldn't have happened. As far as I'm concerned..you are waiting a ticking time bomb....but go ahead....
